pre-school

82^nd Street Academics provides a private Pre-School program which focuses on the “whole” child. The program offers pre-math skills, pre-reading activities, art, music, gross- and fine-motor skills, and social skills as an introduction to learning in a school environment. We use resources from Creative Curriculum and Early Start.

Our student-teacher ratio is 8:1. Lead Teachers have New York State certification in Early Childhood Education.

Students can attend Pre-School two, three, or five days a week. Families also have the option of choosing the schedule which works best for their child:

• Rise-and-Shiners (9:00 AM to 11:00 AM)
• Noon-Time Know-it-Alls (11:15 AM to 1:15 PM)
• After-Nap All-Stars (2:00 PM to 4:00 PM)

The Pre-School program is open to students starting at the age of two years and six months. All students must be toilet trained. Tuition is affordable and can be paid monthly. The Pre-School program is the perfect introduction to school life for your child.

universal pre-kindergarten

The 82nd Street Academics UPK program is open to students who will turn four by December 31st of the current year. It is a FREE program sponsored by the New York City Department of Education; students are accepted without cost to the family.

The program focuses on the social skills a child will need in Kindergarten. Classroom learning time is open-ended and child-centered. Children learn by making independent choices and exploring the environment around them. In this way, they develop skills to become “life-long learners.”

The UPK program is open five days a week from Monday through Friday. Families can choose the morning class, which runs from 8:00 AM to 10:30 AM or the afternoon class, which runs from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM.

Spaces in the UPK program are limited and highly competitive; registration begins in February or March for the school year starting the following September.

extended day

82nd Street Academics also offers an Extended Day program to supplement the hours that your child is in Universal Pre-K. Extended Day is a convenient solution and the best option for working parents. Your child will be in a structured environment with a New York State certified teacher and other students of the same age. Half-day or full-day schedules are available.
