82^nd Street Academics provides a Half Day Pre-School program which offers a gentle introduction to school life. The program develops students’ pre-math and pre-literacy skills, and engages young minds through arts, music, gross- and fine-motor activities, and fosters social-emotional development. We use resources from Creative Curriculum to develop a supportive classroom environment and exciting lesson plans.

Students can attend Half Day Pre-School two, three, or five days a week. All classes are held from 12:15PM to 3:15PM. The program is open to students starting at the age of two years and six months. Our Half Day Pre-School is the perfect introduction to school life for your child!

The Dual Language Pre-School Program is an exciting new offering from 82nd Street Academics! This program incorporates learning goals of our other programs, with the additional purpose of developing children’s fluency in Spanish and English. The program utilizes specific techniques to support children’s language acquisition:

• Immersion instruction in both languages
• A print-rich classroom environment
• Daily family involvement activities
• Involving children with diverse language backgrounds

This class will be held Monday through Friday from 8:30AM - 11:30AM. Children eligible to enter the program in Fall 2012 must have been born between January 1, 2009 and February 28, 2010. All children in the program are expected to have some basic exposure to both the Spanish and English languages. A parent interview with the Education Director is required for admission to the program.

Our Full Day Pre-School program is designed for working families who need quality full-day care for their children. We provide a positive first educational experience that enhances future learning. Our curriculum focuses on developing children’s social-emotional, cognitive, physical, aesthetic, and language skills.

Students can attend Full-Day Pre-School two, three, or five days a week. The class schedule is 8:30am – 4:30pm. An extended pick-up is available on a per diem basis.

We encourage interested families to contact us in early spring before the school year begins for more information, as this program has limited capacity.

The Summer Pre-School program at 82^nd Street Academics offers children a gentle introduction to school life. Our experienced teachers plan engaging activities that foster learning through play and exploration. Follow this link for more information.

The program focuses on teaching the social-emotional, cognitive, linguistic, physical, and aesthetic skills that children need to be ready for kindergarten. Classroom learning time is open-ended and child-centered. Children learn by making independent choices and exploring the environment around them. In this way, they develop skills to become lifelong learners.

The UPK program is open five days a week from Monday through Friday. Families can choose the morning class, which runs from 8:20 AM to 10:50 AM, the mid-day class, which runs from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM, or the afternoon class from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM.

Admission into the UPK program is limited. Registration begins in March for the school year starting the following September.

82nd Street Academics also offers an Extended Day program to build on the foundation of the Universal Pre-K program and increase kindergarten readiness. This program offers additional activities targeting the learning standards for literacy, science, math, and physical development. Extended Day is a great option for working parents. Your child will be in a structured environment with a low teacher to student ratio, New York State certified instructors, and other students of the same age. Half-day or full-day schedules are available.
